I’m donating money to Sunrise Day Camp-Long Island, which is a camp exclusively for children with cancer and their siblings. The Sunrise organization relies solely on donor support to fund its campers’ experience each summer. Having worked there as a Head Counselor, I can say with confidence that it is one of the happiest places on earth. If you heard the camp cheers from a distance, you’d never know that a majority of the children were sick: they are a spirited, lively bunch. They look at camp as an opportunity to be themselves, make friends, and play all day.
