I conducted a study of people’s attitudes and knowledge about Facebook posts where college students request roommates of their social ingroups. I found that people’s genders, religions, and political attitudes influence how acceptable they find these requests. I also found that people generally underestimate the likelihood of these posts being found by potential employers during online background checks. I would like to present these findings in detail through a series of public talks for students. The award money will go toward reserving spaces, advertising, paying guest speakers, and potentially continuing the talks in local schools.
