My project is to increase resources for low-income high school students, specifically those residing in my neighboorhood of South Los Angeles. My school, and in the area alike, lack the sufficient resources needed for students to navigate the College Admissions process successfully; from FAFSA support to writing the personal statements, and a lack of a counselour altogether. In the attempt to minimize such barriers, the funding from the Contribution Project will be allocated to creating a small library that provides such resources in the format of books. My aim is to have these books either rented out or being utilized during break hours, like lunch and nutrition. This project, though it will not erase the systemic barriers that persist in American Academia, it will create a direct alleviation for this upcoming class so that they are not alone in the process. Accessibility matters and this is the aim of such project.
